This qualification is designed for everyone entering the workplace for the first time- either as a part of a work experience programme or at the start of employment- and those starting a new job. It is designed to ensure candidates are aware of the key health & safety issues and the part that they should play in keeping themselves and others free from harm in the workplace. Suggested progression is the Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the workplace

The holder of the  Level 1 Award in Health and Safety will:

  • Understand the importance of health & safety in the workplace.
  • Identify the hazards and risks related to the workplace.
  • Understand workplace health and safety procedures.

  • The range of workplace conditions
  • Workplace procedures- reporting, protective clothing, first aid etc

    • Level 2 Award in Health and Safety

    Duration: 1 day including multiple-choice exam

    This course is designed for anyone in a work environment. It is designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of customers, contractors and the public.

    Employers are responsible for providing safe and healthy workplace conditions as well as the right systems and methods for safe activities. Nevertheless employees also have a vital part to play in the equation. They need the right attitude, which demands proper training in the basics of health & safety, as well as specific training for individual tasks.

    This qualification can be tailored to business and individual needs to make the learning experience relevant and fit for purpose. Suggested progression is the Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the workplace.

    The holder of the  Level 2 Award in Health and Safety will:

  • Understand the Principles of health & safety.
  • Understand the importance of risk assessment as a technique for accident and ill health prevention.
  • Understand the responsibilities placed on employers and employees.
  • Understand the hazards, risks, and main causes of harm to workers.
  • Understand the importance of following systems, procedures and rules.
  • Understand how individual action can reduce risks to health and safety
  • Appreciate how workplace equipment and task design affect health & safety
